Steve Cobb is a Sussex based artist working in acrylic paint to create unique, vibrant and expressive images. A self-taught artist, Steve has been painting seriously for five years. After thirty years as an award-winning local press photographer he recently left his role as Head of Photography to enthusiastically emerge from behind the lens and stand at the artist’s easel. For inspiration Steve has drawn on his experience of living and witnessing all facets of life via his news camera in the South of England. He enjoys the versatility of acrylics to express his reactions. Yet when exploring more imaginative images the vibrant acrylics again help provide Steve with a counterpoint to his perceived anxieties of modern life. He finds the use of impasto techniques with palette knives together with loose brushwork adds a vigorous quality to his impressions.
